Yes, if your a listener of our podcast you may have suspected this for some time. Today however I can confirm it, i’m an idiot.
How did this news come to light? After finishing Mass Effect 2 (a quick 36 Hour investment on my behalf) I went ahead and deleted the Mass Effect 2 folder on my 360. To ensure that the idiot test came back positive I proceeded to install Guitar Hero Greatest Hits onto my HDD.
Days later when I realised that the save game was in the folder I deleted I jumped onto my nearest computer & did a quick Google for “Recover xbox 360 save game”. I found that for $25 AUD I could purchase a HDD data transfer cable for PC, combined with either XPort360 or Xplorer360, I would be able to restore deleted data.
Upon receiving the cable & trying multiple times to restore my data, only to have both programs continually crash, another quick Google soon relieved I would only be able to recover my save game if nothing had been overwritten. Yup, you guessed it, I sacrificed 36 hours of game play (& i’m guessing a few achievement points once I complete Mass Effect 3 with the one character) for a few seconds less loading time when playing GH-GH!
After 4 years, many toons & countless quests I no longer have an active World Of Warcraft account.
Once I dinged 80 for the 4th time the magic left. Having been through all the high level content numerous times I could no longer justify the $15 per month price tag. It’s amazing how much time it has freed up for me. Not just the time spent in front of the keyboard, my listening time for podcasts has increased as I no longer consume 3 hours per week for keeping up with all things WoW.
It’s been a wonderful experience & I have learnt a lot, not just about RPGs but also the importance of team work. I will definitely be picking up Cataclysm when it comes out (this November?), however I doubt my presence in Azeroth beyond the 30 days subscription included with the purchase.

Edge of Darkness (2010)
Starring:
Mel Gibson; you might know from everything.
Bojana Novakovic you may or may not have heard of, a graduate from NIDA in 2002.
Ray Winstone you might know from The Departed as Mr. French.
Danny Huston you might know from X Men Origins: Wolverine as the young Col. William Stryker.
Directed by Martin Campbell also Directed Casino Royale (2006).
I liked it but wait for it on DVD/Blu Ray.
Edge of Darkness is based on a British TV mini series from 1985 and it feels like it. The modern representation of nuclear terrorism feels like a jazzed up idea from the political climate back then. It’s a conspiracy film. Yes, the government are capable of just about anything for their own benefit. Oh shock horror. This particular film has a bit of a naïve conclusion though. It’s a sick twist on happily ever after I guess you could say.
Mel Gibson was OK. I haven’t seen him acting since Signs (2002). He looks older than he should in the film, however I think it was intentional. He plays that ‘guy with nothing to lose on the war path’ like no one else. He’s such a hero. (Insert Wretching.mp3). I think he had a big opportunity to portray some real emotion and didn’t take it.
Oh and I’m getting sick of hearing Boston accents. It feels like a trend now. Don’t even get me started on what is wrong with trends.
As mentioned in the upcoming podcast episode, Trials HS is a game I just can’t put down at the moment.

It’s been over 2 years since ‘The Orange Box’ was released, proof the Source engine works on the platform. In that time they have been able to publish Portal as a standalone title on XBLA with a few additional levels. CS:S is still a game I have an hour a week for on my PC, the game just has a unique style that doesn’t tire. Aside from a terrible port on the original xbox we are yet to have a genuine showing of the franchise for console gamers. They have the ability, tools & concept to bring this great title into the hands of millions of additional gamers & for the life of me I have no idea what could possibly be holding them back.
